MANREGA is the best ever rural development scheme launched by any government in India or in the world. The honest and correct implementation of this could have transformed the face of rural India. But corruption has simply transacted the money from state coffers to the pockets of avaricious people. The most damaging impact has been that the rural populace, hitherto considered honest and God fearing, has participated in mass loot of money. This is social perversion where the mission of all participants is not DEVELOPMENT but pocketing the money by unfair means.
I live in a small village surrounded by 9 similar small settlements where 50 development works were undertaken but only two are genuine and even in these, corruption cannot be ruled out.
We, all Indians should think that merely withdrawal of money from state coffers and pocketing it, is not only corruption but a great sin.
